Hungry Girls Night Out April 06, 2009 Reviewer: Sunkiss
I went out for girls night with 2 of my girlfriends. Although we are islanders, Queequegs was a first for us. It was dead winter but we still needed a reservation, which means they must be good right? They had a great atmosphere, our seats were right on the heater so we stayed toasty, which I liked. We all ordered a drink. I ordered something I had never tried before and sadly, did not like. I was having trouble drinking it but did not want to complain. The nice bartender could tell I was having a hard time getting it down and insisted on bringing me something else, free of charge. I thought that was very nice of him. The dinner rolls that they brought around were great! When our entrees came we were all shocked at how small the servings were, especially for the price. We ate our meal and then all agreed the food was tasty but did not satisfy our hunger. I have never finished a meal at a restaurant and thought to myself wow I am still sooooo hungry. Unfortunately, we declined the dessert offer and left for Fooods for a slice of pizza. We decided that we would not go there again for dinner but would not mind going once and a while for a drink at the bar.

So we (5 girls) decided to have girls night out. When choosing a restaurant we had a few things in mind : great food, quality service, relaxed atmosphere.
When we came to the restaurant for our 8:30 reservation the hostess pointed to the table outside and said "you can take that table" pointing it with her finger..
I turned to my friend who made the reservation and ask if that's what she asked for since it was quite chilly outside and about to rain. She said that she definitely requested a table inside. The hostess rolled her eyes and tried to convince us that we did make a reservation for an outside table. After a few minutes she finally agreed to put us inside. Great!
So we were seated and greeted by our waiter about 10 minutes after (O.K. we didn't mind it since we were having a good time chatting and were in no hurry to order)
The drink order came in after about 10 minutes. So it's almost half hour and we haven't even ordered. When the waiter finally approached us we had to ask if there were any specials for that night (i thought it was his job to sell the specials?) in a middle of the order he excused himself and left to service another customer who most likely was much more important than us??!!
Finally we got our appetizers, yummy delicious food.
The entries came about 45 minutes after the appetizer dishes were cleared.
So our dinner ended up being 2,5 hours ordeal (we decided to skip the desert), us trying to get attention of our waiter and him trying to ignore us.
I left the restaurant really upset, since I have been going there for many years, always leaving generous tip, I did expect more from the staff.

We had a family gathering there which was just perfect, excellent service and food and all for a great price, the staff could not have been friendlier or more accommodating to our needs. Wonderful atmosphere, very comfortable! The timing between courses was just right, and did not have to ask for a single thing, it was like the waitress just knew what we needed.
One of the best restaurants value wise.
Food is excellent and the price doesn't bite.
Great atmosphere and service. One of the only places where you can sit outside in the middle of downtown but still feel like you are tucked away!
