I have been to the restaurant many times and every single one of them has been an amazing experience. Love the food love the people (especially the charcuterie plate). The restaurant could use a little bit more lighting but other than that my favorite restaurant on the island!

The Good, the Bad and the Ugly August 29, 2008

It's funny how an excellent restaurant can be let down by their staff, and the proprietors don't even notice it! Or are they all relatives, and they are being force to employ them? Seems like it to me. In terms of taste, the American Seasons restaurant gets my vote. The food there is delicious and quite interesting. However, the service in this high end restaurant is definitely not high end at all. I'd say I can get better service from a fast food place! Me and my wife were there when we visited Nantucket last summer. The ambiance is quite romantic, if a bit dark. We had some of their fish and lobster when we were there, and I have to say, they outdid themselves on that score. My dad who has also been there swears by their meat and potato dishes. The wine list is also very comprehensive, though it’s quite expensive. However, if you want to experience proper American Seasons fine dining, I’d say it’s quite worth it. Also, you can ask the house for recommendations if possible, but that can be difficult because the service is invisible! This brings me to the negative side of our dining experience in American Seasons. I'd say a lot of criticisms that American Seasons get for their dishes are simply not true. However, criticism about the dismal service of the restaurant is right on the money. I don't think I've ever been served worse than when we were at the American Seasons. Certainly this is something that the restaurant ought to correct. As impressive as their food may be, the inattentive and unprofessional service that they offer is totally unacceptable, and why I shan't be returning. Aside from the moody greetings, ordering of food and paying the meal, our waitress never approached us and asked how we were doing. I tried to catch her eye for a refill of my wine glass, but felt we were invisible. I got the refill, but only by getting up and approaching our server: that's all I can call her. This certainly isn't how we'd expect to be treated in a high end restaurant: not with the high prices that they put on their wine and food. The whole experience was ugly. All in all, I'd say American Seasons gets points for its delicious dishes and loses points for its dismal and service. While we enjoyed our meal when we were there, we were disgusted with the service, and apparently we were not the only ones treated dismally that evening.

Be prepared to be ignored August 27, 2008
Reviewer: Cisco

Based on service alone, I would not return. I was ignored completely, and not engaged. Comments by servers were inappropriate (to other customers, and among themselves), and thoroughly unprofessional. The food was OK, at best, but does not live up to the concept. I would not recommend this restaurant.

Wonderful romantic dining April 16, 2008

One of the things that you won't find better than at American Season's is the food presentation. The food seems to taste better when it's presented in a beautiful very artsy way! Food is good. Portion sizes are rather small. I actually like that but my husband is always left hungry for more :) Great wine list, probably the best on the island. Very cozy and romantic atmosphere.
